PELLA:
In the Jordan Valley, is another city of the Decapolis. A short drive north of Amman, Pella is one of the most important and largest sites in the region. This ancient and imposing city is still being excavated and evidence uncovered so far dates habitation as long ago as 10,000 years.

UMM QAIS:
Historically known as Gadara, is of equally historic importance. Umm Qais commands majestic views over the Golan Heights, the Sea of Galilee, the Yarmouk River gorge and the Jordan Valley.

ABILA:
More rural than Jerash and Umm Qais, lies to the northeast. Roman temples, Byzantine churches and early mosques lie surrounded by olive groves and wheat fields. Excavations place first occupation of this site at around 5,000 years ago.

UMM EL JAMAL:
Is one of the Decapolis' most eerie and dramatic monuments to ancient civilisation, a stark contrast to Jerash and the other cities of the area. Remains of black basalt stone houses, churches, Roman barracks and a fort complex make the town an interesting visit.

AJLUN village:
A forty-minute drive from Amman, offers the visitor a remarkable castle, dating from 12th century AD. The castle sits atop an impressive mountain, Qalaat er Rabad.
