AMMAN:
The capital of Jordan, is a city of contrasts, historical sites rubbing shoulders with modern architecture. A busy commercial centre, Amman hosts many modern facilities, restaurants, hotels, historical sites, nightclubs and shops. The city is home to over one million people, and is overlooked by the Citadel, a hill with the ruins of the Temple of Hercules. Nestled at the foot of the Citadel lies a 5000 seat roman amphitheatre. Amman, perhaps more than any other city in Jordan, offers a unique blend of old traditions and modern methods. A few yards away from a modern supermarket complex, one might find a traditional Arabic street vendor, selling local Arabic dishes such as falafel, or freshly baked corn on the cob.
 
JERASH:
Is one of the cities of the Decapolis. From the Greek translation meaning ten cities, the Decapolis consisted of ten Graeco-Roman cities in the land of northern Jordan, Syria and Palestine. Considered the most complete and best preserved city of the Decapolis, the ancient Graeco-Roman city of Jerash lies an easy hour's drive from Amman. Entered by way of an imposing triple-arched gateway, built in AD 129, the walls of Jerash protect remains of settlements which have been found dating from over 2,500 years ago. Retrace the routes of ancient civilisations through original temples, theatres, plazas, baths and colonnaded streets by following chariot wheel ruts, deeply etched thousands of years past in the ancient cobbled streets.
