HOLIDAYS: The Jordanian day of rest is traditionally Friday, however some Christian business owners close instead on Sunday. Several national holidays are observed on the same date annually. Islamic holidays are also observed, however their precise dates vary every year by about two weeks, in line with the Islamic lunar calendar. Although most businesses will observe the day of rest and public holidays, the tourist related industry, including most shops, are open for business seven days a week. Banks and Government offices are closed Friday and Saturday.
